
The Friends of the Library has hosted this event since 1991. The contest is based on volunteers who dedicate their time by decorating containers that reflect a little about themselves, and the community votes for their favorite contestant by placing penny votes into the containers.
This event would not be possible if not for the dedication of the contestant’s families, friends and the community. Area business’ are also deserving of much thanks for hosting the containers and for their contributions to the prizes.
The reigning Miss Sweet 16 2006, Miss Tasha Johnson, daughter of Scott & Maryanne Johnson, crowned the new Miss Sweet 16. Escorting Miss Johnson was Colin Wright. Colin’s parents are Curtis and Sue Wright.
Miss Megan Marie Ward was also a contestant. Megan is a cheerleader, a member of FBLA, and a member of the track team. She is the daughter of Stephanie and Anthony Ward. She was escorted by Vince Ryburn. Mr. Ryburn is the son of Jason & Teresa Ryburn.
Chailyn Cummings was crowned 1st Runner-up. Chailyn’s parents are Carolyn Adams and Clayton Cummings. Chailyn is very active in school activies and lists volleyball, softball, basketball, FBLA and the WHS Singers as things that keep her busy. She is also a member of youth group and 4-H. Scott Thompson is escorting Miss Cummings this evening. Scott is the son of Gina Thompson.
Spencer Adams escorted Miss Courtney Mariah Large. Spencer is the son of Julie & Clyde Adams. Gary E. Large and Ladean Large are Courtney’s parents. FBLA, SADD, Forensics, Drama Club, Theatre Club, Band, Scholar’s Bowl, the WHS Singers, and Band fill Courtney’s schedule. Volunteering is also important for Courtney and list the Special Olympics and the Elementary School Trick or Treat for can goods as some of her service dedication. Courtney was crowned 2nd Runner-up and also was awarded the prize for best decorated container.
Chase McCullough escorted Miss Kayla Elaine Patton. Kayla is the daughter of Dale & Kari Patton. Miss Patton participates in volleyball, cheerleading, basketball, softball, and FBLA. Vince & Debbie McCullough and Rod & Jean Bouse are the parents of Chase McCullough. Miss Patton is the new Miss Sweet 16.
With all the help from the community, friends and families the entries have raised over $900.00.
